THE PLUG-IN HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE POPULATION IS YOUNGER THAN THAT OF ELECTRIC VEHICLES

The marketing agency NAPI analyzed the age composition of the car population as of January 1, 2025. Cars aged over 15 years account for slightly more than half of the population, the share of "fresh" vehicles (aged up to 3 years inclusive) reaches only 5.6%. Electric vehicle and plug-in hybrid electric vehicle population is significantly "younger". Thus, cars aged up to 3 years inclusive account for 79.2% of the plug-in hybrid electric vehicle population and 48.1% of the electric vehicle population. Since plug-in hybrid electric vehicles began to be mass-produced in 2010, the share of vehicles aged 11-15 years in the population is minimal, there are no plug-in hybrid electric vehicles aged over 15 years in the population. Electric vehicles aged 11-15 years account for 22.4% of the population, the share of vehicles aged over 15 years is a symbolic 0.1%.
